The Opportunity:
The Product Development Specialist is responsible for supporting in the development & commercialization of multiple programs. This role involves working cross-functionally with Project Management/Product Development, Sales, Purchasing, R&D, Quality, & Production to support various launch, execution, & end of program needs. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, enjoys problem solving, process improvement, & has experience with data entry.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Liaise with Project Managers to define project requirements, scope and objectives for all new briefs
· Ensure client’s needs are met as the project evolves through constant collaboration with internal departments
· Coordinate lab batches [sample submissions], stability testing, compatibility testing, etc.
· Interpret and communicate feedback from clients and guide formula iterations accordingly
· Works in conjunction with Creative, R&D, and Purchasing to coordinate the production of samples for customer and sales team use
· Prepares reports as needed to assist the Project Managers
· Assist in initiating draft quotes for Project Managers
· Attend client calls at the request of the PM to support with logging meeting minutes
· Assist Project Managers with daily administrative tasks (i.e. drafting Change Controls, Deviations, generating stab/compat submission forms, etc.) Assign quote numbers as requested and keep Master Quote Log updated on a weekly basis
· Coordinates with QC to complete fill height checks following client approval on formulation & primary packaging.
· Supports with secondary packaging development & pack out development
· Request liquid cost/confirmation from QA/QC
· Request scrap/labour and any other pertinent details from Operations
· Issue complete quote to the Quote Distribution Committee for final review, input, and approval
· Revise quotes as requested or when necessary
· Communicate with all internal departments to ensure New Docket information is complete and accurate prior to launch
· Create item code numbers and descriptions in Deacom
· Create Bill of Materials in Deacom
· Create Labour Routing in Deacom
· Back up for BOM revisions
· Monitors the material & planning status of open orders against the initial production plan (by maintaining and presenting the Docket Report)
· Supports with obtaining hotel/brand approvals for certain key accounts
· Reviews physical packaging samples (received from Purchasing) with Operations for feasibility
· Provides customer Fill & Assembly instructions to QC & facilitates shipping label approval
Qualifications & Experience:
· 1–3 years of experience in product development or project coordination within the beauty, cosmetics, skincare, or personal care industry.
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, product development or other related areas (preferred)
· Familiarity with manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements for cosmetic products preferred.
· Previous experience in a Product Coordinator role is an asset
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and project management tools.
· Basic understanding of formulation principles, packaging components, and product testing requirements.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Passion for the beauty industry and awareness of current consumer and ingredient trends.
